Radio Safety Signage

Responsiblities of the Radio Operator
All radio users incur an obligation when they sign their application for their radio license to abide by the rules of the FCC.  Among those is the obligation to provide proper safety signage for any fixed site.  This obligation is not affected by the type of use, or the output.  This is mandated by the FCC, EPA, and OSHA.  This obligation is owed by both the operator of the radio equipment as well as the owner of the building or property where the radio equipment is located.  Failure to provide proper signage is adequate reason for an FCC fine.  However, due to the higher incidence of radio-related injury, OSHA can visit and inspect your radio system and make their own penalties if you have not provided proper warning for your workers, radio technicians, and even the general public.  It is imperative that you protect the public from injury, and yourself from liability.   [ View Brochure ]

Our signs are made of heavy-gauge UV-resistant plastic unless otherwise noted.  All lettering is painted (no decals) so that they will not fade, peel, rust, tear, or become otherwise unreadable.  All signs are 12" x 18" unless otherwise noted.

Please note that the prices listed below are individual costs, and include the cost of delivery via US Postal Service First Class Mail.  We do provide discounts if you require more than one or two of each sign.  Expedited shipping is available with additional cost.

Safety Program In Effect Sign / $45.00 each

This 11 1/2" x 8" sign should be placed on all sides of an antenna tower or building or other support structure, with or without a ladder.  Remember, you have no way of knowing who is on your site at a given time despite your best efforts.  Be safe and protect yourself against liability!

Competent Climbers Only Sign / $45.00 each

This sign should be placed on all sides of an antenna tower or building or other support structure, with or without a ladder. Remember, you have no way of knowing who is on your site at a given time despite your best efforts. Be safe and protect yourself against liability!

RF Hazards Above This Point Sign / $45.00 each

This sign should be placed at the bottom of any ladders, or at any roof access hatches, or at the base of a building that is used as an antenna support structure.  This protects your employees, as well as any outside contractors (roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC) that may be doing work on or near the roof or tower.

Antenna Support Registration (ASR) Number Sign / $75.00 each

This sign should be placed at the base of any antenna tower, at the gated entrance to a fenced enclosure, and on the outside of any building that is used to support a radio antenna, if they are registered with the FCC, per Part 17.  This sign will also have a contact phone number for the person(s) responsible for the structure.

RF Hazards Notice Sign / $45.00 each

This blue RF hazard sign warns of potential RF radiation hazards that may exceed the safe exposure limits for the general (uncontrolled) population.  This should be placed at the base of any radio tower, at any roof access hatches, on the gate of a fenced enclosure, or on the door of any rooms where people may come within eyeshot of a radio antenna.

RF Hazards Caution Sign / $45.00 each

This yellow RF hazard sign warns of definite RF radiation hazards that will exceed the safe exposure limits for the general (uncontrolled) population, which includes all employees of the radio owner, the property owner, outside contractors (roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and the general public.  This must be placed at the safe distance specified by your Maximum Permissible Exposure Report, which is supposed to be a part of your Site Safety Assessment that is required to be on all fixed radio sites.

RF Dangers Warning Sign / $45.00 each

This red RF hazard sign warns of definite RF radiation hazards that will exceed the safe exposure limits for everybody, including all those trained in the effects of RF exposure and heating.  This must be placed at the distance specified by your Maximum Permissible Exposure Report, which is supposed to be a part of your Site Safety Assessment that is required to be on all fixed radio sites.  This also should be placed adjacent to any fixed sites that can be touched directly, as well as microwave antennae.

Burn Warning Sign / $45.00 each

This sign should be placed near each guy wire of a radio tower.  It should also be placed at the base of a tower if it is located next to a high-output antenna (such as an AM radio tower).  Radio emissions can cause other metal structures or components to reradiate radio waves, causing a bad RF burn.  Also, radio waves can induce a current in metal parts, and if the conditions are right this current can cause a shock or burn or worse.  Just in case, protect yourself and other by installing this sign.
